Hope For AIDS AEC Home Based Care

Amount Raised $0.00
Team Goal $0.00
As the AIDS pandemic spreads across Malawi, the already stretched health system is unable to care for the influx of patients suffering from AIDS related illnesses. Seventy percent of all hospital wards are filled with AIDS related patients. Inability to cope with the large numbers has hospitals sending many patients home to be cared for by family members. Most families do not know how to care for their sick and often leave them to suffer alone while they attend to other responsibilities.

HOPE for AIDS undertakes home-based care, orphan care, prevention activities and leadership training.

Funds are needed as the number of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS is increasing as are costs due to such things as new minimum government requirements (especially for training courses), greater quantity and increased costs of supplies given to patients, and associated personnel needs including travel.
