Turn on the tap, water comes out. Turn on the washing machine, water goes in - not just water but clean water! We all know water is important for basic survival yet why are 1.8 million people dying every year (WHO) because of unsanitary water conditions?
Wells need to be dug to access clean drinking water. These wells not only produce clean water but also minimize the time to access clean water. Usually women would have to walk many kilometres to get to a water source. In many of the countries SIM works, including Burkina Faso, wells need to be dug so communities can access clean water.
Access to clean water has a ripple effect for the community. Health improves and people spend more time in other productive activities to support their families. We need people to join with us and provide communities with safe water. Come dig a well with us.
