Updated Description (10-Mar-2009) - This project will assist in the development of the underprivileged peoples of Bangladesh through: 1) adult literacy training, 2) the formation of cooperative savings groups, 3) maternal-child preventative health training and Traditional Birth Assistant training, 4) training of marginal farmers to use more effective and more profitable agricultural techniques, 5) agricultural initiatives for profit to benefit financial sustainability of the project. Strong emphasis will be laid upon sustainable development so that project beneficiaries do not become economically or in other ways dependent on the project. Spiritual outreach will be undertaken to project beneficiaries, unbelieving staff, and to other community members, but with caution and cultural sensitivity. New believers will be integrated into house churches.
