Hope For AIDS Orphan Care

Amount Raised $0.00
Team Goal $0.00
There are now over 1.2 million orphans in Malawi. Most have been orphaned by AIDS. These children face loss of identity, increased malnutrition and reduced opportunity for education. Without adequate care and support, many of these children will become marginalized, exposed to child labor and abuse. Traditionally, extended family have carried the burden of caring for orphans. However, Malawians are dying at such a rate that the normal coping mechanisms for caring for orphans are overstretched. SIM, together with the Africa Evangelical Church (AEC), will work to set up Orphan Care Committees to support families caring for orphans and speak on behalf of the orphan when necessary. Many AEC pastors are already caring for orphans, giving them experience in dealing with issues related to orphans.
