The Evangelical Bible college was established in 1946 by the the South Africa General Mission [later Africa Evangelical felllowship] under the name of Chizela Bible Institute. It was established for the purpose of training leaders for the the national church. The first course ran for 6 weeks covering 24 courses. The programme was later extended to a three year course offering a certificate in Biblical Instruction. By 1959 there were 42 students enrolled. Over the years the college has continued to grow with over 350 graduates. Many of them are serving the Lord in various areas of Christian ministry in the church. In 1995 the Institute introduced the English certificate program and following their graduation in 1997 all of the graduates are involved in pastoral, church planting, and chaplaincy ministries. The second English intake graduated in July 2000 and a number of the graduates are involved in ministry in their home churches. An upgrade to introduce a diploma programme is underway.
