Army Base - Growing
Lieutenant-Governor, the Honourable John Graves Simcoe Armoury is the new home for the 256-year-old Queen's York Rangers regiment, housing reconnaissance squadron A, classroom space and 16 vehicles. It is also the base should there be a disaster that requires emergency response north of Toronto. The new building replaced Canada's oldest Armoury built next to Aurora's Town Park in 1874, and is more than three times the size of the old facility, allowing the regiment to train more effectively and giving it room to grow.
